The dragon had taken residence on the mountain next to the village. The village, unsurprisingly, didn't appreciate it, and put out the call for adventurers to deal with it.
The first responders tried a direct physical assault. That didn't go well.
The second team leaned heavily on magic, but the dragon resisted this. Violently.
The third attempt was via trickery, fairy gold to lure it away. The fires it started in response were a fairly loud reply.
The final attempt was a Druid who just asked the dragon to move on.
It didn't work, but the Druid at least survived.
