It's not very well known outside of it, but Goblin society is highly stratified, with over a hundred different levels of status, and over a thousand different ways of ranking the different levels.
It's complicated, but pretty much all Goblins understand it completely, which does make things easier in times of natural disaster and other high stress situations, there's no comparing of rankings or title or other power struggles, Goblins just get on with.
Which is part of the reason no-one outside Goblin society knows, they only ever interact when Goblins are in "defend everyone from the invading non-Goblins" mode.
