I found her sitting on the floor, staring at the body. I approached
carefully, since the gun was still in her hand.
“Honey, you-“
She waved the gun at me.
“I told you he was alive, that he’d framed me. But it’s
fine, that double indemnity law means I can’t go to jail for killing him, ‘again’.”
I chose my words carefully.
“Firstly, it’s called double jeopardy laws, and second, that
only applies for the exact same crime. This is a new one, so…”
She looked at me, then slowly lifted the gun to her head.
I didn’t stop her.
