Not that this is how it is, but it works as a metaphor.
Imagine a machine, a giant basket on top of it, a tube below. The basket can hold the trillions of souls that exist. As a soul dies, it falls into the basket via a delivery service that isn't important. When a soul is needed, the machine pulls one out, like a gumball machine, and shoots it out, flying off to where it's needed.
Now imagine the being who's existence is to watch and run this machine.
Imagine that's you, seeing the basket now empty.
What happens now?
