Captain Peters had to practically yell to be heard over the
explosions around their position.
“All right Men, we have-“
“Soldiers.”
Captain Peters paused and glared at Sergeant Dorman.
“Fine. Soldiers, we’re gonna have to cross about half a mile
of No Man’s Land before-“
“No Person’s Land!”
Peters took a deep breath.
“Dorman, do you see anyone here complaining about my using
gendered fucking language? This squad is all male!”
Dorman coughed, the effect lost when a mortar shell exploded
above them.
“You’re a woman, Ma’am… Captain.”
Captain Emily Peters closed her eyes, as the next shell hit
true.
