Unnoticed Birthday

By midday, he knew no-one had remembered his birthday.

He understood it on one level, he avoided all social media, and thus forcing people to actually remember something was clearly far too taxing for everyone.

So he withdrew to his apartment. He turned off his phone and slid in the first disc of his favorite sitcom box set, and snuggled down with that, and some spicy popcorn. The rest of the world, from work through to the usual late night poker game could all go hang.

Which is a shame, as the poker game was where the surprise party was.
