The Tale Of The King

There's no such thing as a definitive version of the tale.

Several bards will claim to know the original, told to them by whatever well known classical storyteller they can get away with claiming they learned under. A few scribes have written some of these down. But none of them are the same, none of them definitive.

It's not a matter of personal taste, or even of style.

The tale changes as needed. Sometimes the King is worthy of loyalty, and the tale reflects that. When he is not, it reflects that.

That's the point of the tale, after all.
