The bench was built as part of a general push to pretty up the area, one of several in the park that were installed by the local council. But it was the only one that had a nice sea view, and that was nestled in bushes that hid it from the rest of the park.
So, as you expected, it was popular with local couples who wanted to, as they say, experiment with enjoying each other's company in public.
Now I'm sure they do enjoy each other, but someone has to clean it up.
Although maybe they also enjoy it.
