"In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15
minutes", the quotation goes. And we can trace that back to where it came
from.
But that’s the sped up version of an older phrase in
English, a ‘Nine Days Wonder’, which basically means the same thing, world
famous for nine days then forgotten about.
That one, we can’t trace. As long as there’s been English,
that phrase has existed, it seems.
There was the original nine days wonder, but afterwards,
everyone was forced to forget about the war, full of wonder.
But the phrase remained.
As did all the nightmares.
