Timefreeze

In the half-second he had, Timefreeze was the only spell he could cast.

He took a moment to calm himself, then reviewed the situation. The bolt of Infernal energy hung, frozen, in the air a few scant inches from his beloved wife’s face. She was trying to move her sword in the way, but she wouldn’t make it.

He couldn’t leave the area, couldn’t cast another spell, couldn’t touch anything. He could maintain the spell, in theory, forever. Remain here, unable to do anything, except be with her, and not let her die.

Wasn’t even a choice.

He’s still there.
