The squad claimed it had roots in a medieval band of knights that defended a settlement that subsisted on sea fishing. But really, they came up with the name over a drunken night of leave, and they called themselves fishes since they drank like them.
They soon became known as the most feared squad in the army, and the enemy became obsessed with taking them out. They poured more and more Resources into it, but they didn't catch onto the trick until it was far too late.
It was smart of them to leave off "flying" despite it totally fitting.
