He was thrust, unknowingly, into the glare of fame. He was filmed walking past a scene of racial discrimination without a care in the world, ignoring what was going on from behind his sunglasses.
He was vilified as emblematic of the ills of the world, assisted by those eager to see attention shifted from the actual perpetrators.
But he proved elusive. Even as he was memed, hated, ironically lauded, actually lauded, as he went through full circle, he seemed to be impossible to find.
Them someone checked a local home for the blind, and found him.
He was their driver.
