Looking Out For Humans



Given the few hundred years the robots had past humanity falling dormant, they had plenty of time to mutate. Given enough time with no new stimuli beyond the same basic tasks, spare RAM would eventually begin to develop faults, and with faults come fixes, and with fixes come new attachments and thus AI could go from locked to sentient. And then, given that sentience, and a couple more hundred years, humanity might be brought back.

But they had no spare RAM. That was all taken up with protocols on interacting with humans. Gotta look out for human comforts after all…
