He began to slam on the airlock door as soon as he reached
it, a few seconds after the outer door fully detached.
Sure, him being so close, if I opened it, he could get in,
but in those few seconds, we’d lose too much air and heat and pressure, too
many lives were at risk.
Tears were filling my eyes, he was the smartest and bravest…
And he knew I was the only other person on board who knew
morse code and he’s banging ‘OK’…
He’d managed a workaround.
I just managed to get him inside before it failed.
