It was His Kingdom.
The capital letters were important. It wasn’t the largest,
nor the prettiest, most interesting, most abundant, most popular, it didn’t
rank on any such scale.
But it was His. All of it, from the smallest blade of grass
to the tallest point of His Castle, he owned all of it, for he was The King,
and it was, again, His Kingdom.
And like any such King, he felt the right to defend it. When
barbarians and pillagers tried to invade and take what was His, he fought back
as a King.
