She was carried along by the crowd, every attempt to leave it
ruined by a shove from behind, a press from the side, or just the threat of trampling.
Eventually she just gave up trying to get out and instead worked on getting to
the head of it, and seeking an out there.
By the time she got there, the crowd had mostly stopped, and
was milling about in front of a large gate. There was a sense of people waiting
for something, everyone wanting to follow someone else’s lead.
She tripped and fell against the gate, which swung open…
