Taking Them Off



She looked shocked for a moment, then a smile grew across her lips. She took her time raising a hand up to the frame of her glasses, her red fingernails sliding along the thin black metal. She fluttered her eyelids behind the clear plastic of the lenses, and then slowly she slid them off, flicking her head from side to side, her black hair cascading down around her face, a vision of beauty unleashed, her look playful, yet also determined desire.

I debated what to say next, but honesty won out.

“I meant the drinking glasses here on the table…”
