The light blinked in a steady pattern, often enough to draw
the eye without distracting it too much.
Great care had been taken in picking just the right shade of
red for the glass over the small diode, the right balance between making sure
that this warning was noticed, while not unduly worrying people. It was the
first line of defense, as it were, the light would flash when the main oxygen
tank got to a certain lowish point, giving plenty of time to investigate the
issue.
But since by this point everyone on-board was long dead, it
went unnoticed.
