Lacking The Right Watery Tart

The sword lay at the bottom of the stagnate lake for quite a long time, by any standards. Humans tend to equate anything that happened before they existed as ancient history, but even lesser gods would be shocked at how long it had lay submerged.

The water would slowly evaporate over time, but then every few millennia a near cataclysmic storm would rage outside the cave system and water would eventually flow in.

When the sword was finally found, the hand that grasped it was robotic, but it still worked its magic, and started the downfall of all life again.
