The Gods, being omniscient and omnipresent, or at least near
enough that it makes little difference, had naturally gotten everything sorted
out orderly.
There were four lands, and four pantheons. Each pantheon had
sixteen gods and/or goddesses, with almost all aspects of life neatly
divisible. You lived in the Eastern lands, and needed rain? Golina, the weather
Goddess. Northern land, curse a cheater, invoke Hoptom to strike him down.
Everything was neatly divided up. Which puzzled the more
wise and elder theologians. Everything was so ordered, but there was no god for
Chaos.
They didn’t realise that was humanity’s role.
