The Price Paid

When the path was laid out for me, the cost of so many years spent training, all for this moment, I willingly agreed to pay that price.

Leaving my family, my home, to travel to the ends of the world to study, that was hard, initially, but the payments got easier.

The pain, both acute and prolonged, the broken bones and torn muscles, the aches and strains, down payments, happily given.

I’ve paid so much, just to be here at this moment, to be the one to stop you. And you want to bargain with me?

You can’t afford me.
